Mercaptopurin - 6MP
Mercaptopurine (6-MP) is a purine antimetabolite that works by interfering with purine nucleotide synthesis, thereby inhibiting DNA and RNA production and blocking the proliferation of abnormal cells. It is primarily used in the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia and other hematologic malignancies, and is also used in inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis) where immunosuppressive therapy is required.
