Anagrelide is a platelet-lowering agent that works by inhibiting the maturation of megakaryocytes, thereby reducing platelet production. It is primarily used in the treatment of essential thrombocythemia, a rare bone marrow disorder, to help manage the risk of blood clots associated with an elevated platelet count.
